COPENHAGEN, DK -- It has been seen as an excellent competition. It was down to the final four cities of Chicago, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro, and Tokyo with Chicago vs. Rio as the front-runners in yesterday’s match for the title of Host for the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Chicago came on strong with their proposal for the “Blue-Green Games” providing optimal venues, advocating sustainability, and promoting the power of sport to unify humanity.
But Rio wasn't backing down. They came on stronger with a presentation for a technically thought out plan within their beautiful city. Their presentation was full of promise, passion, and pride.
After each city presented, the voting of the International Olympic Committee commenced. There were three rounds of voting, knocking out the city with the lowest scores each round. To the shock and awe of many, Chicago was KO’d in the first round.
Congratulations, Rio. We'll see you in 2016!
