black coat, white shoes, black hat...

I was robbed.  I go through life thinking the best of people, and not really believing that anything bad will happen to me.  That false sense of security was breached the other night.  I was heading out to meet a friend for dinner and a guy ran up behind me, grabbed my purse, flashed a gun in my face, and ran off after I started yelling.  A neighbor down the street heard, and chased after him to no avail.  Thankfully, nothing else happened and I can feel secure in the fact that he didn't get any money from me...but he did get my glasses and I really liked that purse.

The Chicago police called yesterday to follow up on some information and told me that I had been the first of many similar robberies that night.  Lucky me.  Do I get a prize?

On a positive note, this event has made me more aware of my surroundings and yesterday I broke out my sketchbook again (something that hasn't happened for a while).  Here's what I sketched though...

I should be a sketch artist, I know.  So descriptive.  Don't worry, this isn't what happened.  It wasn't quite that dramatic.   Also, I would like to keep believing that the gun was a fake one.  It just makes me feel better.  However, if you are in Chicago and notice this tall, skinny, 20ish, black guy wearing a black coat, white shoes, black hat, cadillac, the boy's a time bomb.  Please call the police, or run the other way.

Be safe, and thanks for reading!
