Last weekend was pretty amazing. I crossed a few things off of my Chicago list, got some exercise, and had some tasty food with new friends.
Saturday: the sketchbook project comes to Chicago! Here's a little taste of the sketchbooks I checked out at random...

Saturday night included some tasty dinner and 4 bottles of wine when we met up with new (to me) friends at Coast for some sushi. After I gobbled up my favorite ebi tempura and white dragon rolls, we headed to Silver Cloud down the street for some drinks. Then I, being the responsible person that I am, went home to bed. I had signed up to run in the Fleet Feet Women's 10K on Sunday morning (race start time: 7:30am).
Sunday: with a heat index of 98 degrees, I pushed through what was possibly the worst race of my life. It was hot. REALLY hot. The only reason I didn't walk was the fear of prolonging my time in the blazing sun. No personal records were set, but my friend Melissa and I both finished and promptly rehydrated with popsicles, a few bottles of water, and that oh so tasty yellow 'lemon/lime' gatorade. The only thing I regret is forgetting to use the porta-pot before heading back to the train.
I'm already looking forward to next weekend. I just have a few more days to get through...
