Sand, sun, and hiking through the woods make for a very happy puppy and a pretty happy me. Last weekend was absolutely gorgeous weather so I decided to take our new car out of the city with my dog, Riley to explore the Indiana Dunes hiking trails.
I was well aware of the fact that I was going to sand dunes, but I did not anticipate all of the hiking trails to be sandy paths with steep sandy hills to climb. I don't know why I didn't expect there to be sand everywhere, but that was exactly what I got. For the record, hiking up a steep hill of sand is much tougher than hiking up a rocky, dirt trail. Luckily, I had a happy dog pulling my out-of-shape butt along.

glad you FINALLY got to get there! I take it jon was home on the couch?!
Jon was working, but he did say he wanted to come on our next outdoorsy adventure...if Riley promises to be as cute as he is in the photos.
